Accommodative Foot Orthotics

Functional foot orthotics are not always recommended in every case. Some patients, such as the elderly, may not tolerate a rigid device and only require accommodation of painful areas on the feet. Also, in patients with intolerance to rigid devices and flexible or accommodating device may be appropriate. In these special cases the Chiropodist will prescribe an orthotic fabricated using softer material with special accommodations or top covers for painful areas and constructed to provide gentle control of foot motion. Accommodative foot orthotics are required to be replaced more frequently (yearly basis) since they are constructed from softer materials.
