Mount Joy Foot Clinic & Orthotic Center has been serving the residents of Markham, Stouffville, and the Greater Toronto Area since 2008. We are proud to provide a safe, comfortable environment where our chiropodists can help you with your foot and ankle issues. Mount Joy Foot Clinic spent 8 years at Fincham Plaza building lasting relationships with our patients. In the fall of 2016 we moved into Swan Lake Plaza and have become neighbors with the wonderful residents of Swan Lake Village.

Felix Yong
D.Ch
Felix is a registered Chiropodist licensed with the College of Chiropodists of Ontario who holds an Honours Science degree from the University of Waterloo and completed his advanced Chiropody training at the Michener Institute of Education at UHN. Through clinical experience at the Waterloo Foot Clinic, Michener Chiropody Clinic, and Woolwich Community Health Centre, he has developed special interests in biomechanics and geriatric foot care. Outside the clinic, Felix enjoys swimming, playing pickleball with friends, and playing the piano.
Suleman Bhatti

Lead Chiropodist & Owner
Suleman grew up in Markham and has provided the community with comprehensive foot care since 2008.
He earned his Bachelors of Science degree with from the University of Toronto in 2002 after which he graduated from The Michener Institute for Applied Health Sciences as a Chiropodist and being presented with the Board of Governors’ Gold Medal Award. Suleman has always had a keen interest in health care and caring for others.
Suleman specializes in pediatric foot care, diabetic foot care, and custom foot orthotics. He continues to upgrade his skills and expertise to better serve the community.
Tooba Shah
D.Ch
Tooba Shah is a licensed Chiropodist and member of the Canadian Federation of Podiatric Medicine (CFPM) who earned her Honours Bachelor of Science from the University of Toronto in 2017 before completing her Chiropody training at the Michener Institute at UHN in 2021. Leveraging her clinical training, she focuses on diabetic foot care, wound management, and biomechanics, dedicated to ensuring every patient receives thoughtful, effective care and leaves the clinic feeling better than when they arrived.
Vithusha Yogeswaran
D.Ch
Vithusha Yogeswaran earned her Bachelor of Medical Sciences in Physiology with distinction from Western University before graduating in Chiropody from the Michener Institute of Education at UHN. Through clinical placements in both private and public settings, she gained extensive experience managing lower limb conditions related to diabetes, biomechanics, sports medicine, dermatology, and pediatrics. Dedicated to comprehensive, evidence-based, person-centered care, she is known for her gentle approach, thorough treatments, and patient education, while enjoying quality time with family, reading, trying new restaurants, and watching Netflix in her spare time.

In Ontario, both chiropodists and podiatrists are primary care foot specialists regulated by the College of Chiropodists of Ontario. They undergo rigorous clinical training and hold the same scope of practice, including treating skin and nail disorders, performing soft-tissue foot surgery, and prescribing custom orthotics. Essentially, both are experts dedicated exclusively to diagnosing and treating lower-limb conditions.
We treat a wide variety of foot and ankle issues, ranging from everyday skin and nail problems to complex structural pain. Common conditions include ingrown toenails, fungal nails, corns, calluses, plantar fasciitis, heel pain, bunions, flat feet, sports injuries, and foot complications related to diabetes.
No, you do not need a medical doctor's referral to schedule a visit with us. You can contact our Markham clinic directly to book your appointment. However, if you plan to use private health insurance coverage, it is always a good idea to check your specific policy beforehand, as some extended health plans occasionally require a doctor’s note for reimbursement.
Your initial appointment involves a comprehensive evaluation of your foot health and medical history. Your chiropodist will examine your skin, nails, joints, and lower-limb mechanics (including how you walk). Based on these findings, we will discuss your foot issue, provide immediate treatment if needed, and outline a personalized long-term care plan.
Routine chiropody care, custom orthotics, and biomechanical assessments are not covered by the Ontario Health Insurance Plan (OHIP). However, most extended health insurance plans through employers or private providers cover a significant portion of chiropody services and custom orthotics. We recommend checking with your insurance provider regarding your specific paramedical limits.
Yes, Mount Joy Foot Clinic offers direct billing to many major extended health insurance providers (such as Sun Life, Canada Life, Manulife, and others via electronic portals like Telus Health), meaning you may not have to pay out-of-pocket for the full amount upfront.
Because every insurance policy is different, we recommend checking with your specific provider before your visit to confirm your exact coverage details and whether direct billing is available for your specific plan. If direct billing is not supported by your provider for any reason, we will provide you with a detailed itemized receipt that you can easily submit to your insurance company for reimbursement.
Payment can be made by VISA, Mastercard, AMEX (yes, we accept), Debit, Cash and e-transfers. We do not accept cheque payments.
Patient safety and infection control are our absolute top priorities. All reusable instruments undergo a strict, medical-grade sterilization process using specialized autoclaves, meeting or exceeding all provincial health and safety standards. Single-use items are discarded immediately after each appointment.
